Port City MMA with some fans outside our locker room.

We got off to a good start to 2012 last weekend with another undefeated performance at the Gladiator Championships at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St Louis, MS.  The show was filmed to be shown on tape delay on Fox Sports Net.

Blake Singley won a unanimous decision in a slugfest against the always tough JC Pennington from Slidell, LA.  It was a great fight and Blake showed his full range of skills in a dominate performance.  He also picked up another fighter of the night award.

Mike Barnett got the card started with a decision win against a much more experienced opponent from Louisiana.  Despite having much less experience and than his opponent Mike won a decision in a grueling fight that went the distance.   It was a great showing especially since he took the fight on only 4 days notice.

Jonathan Cox showed that he is the top amateur bantamweight fighter on the coast when he won a very technical battle against a really skilled opponent from Gladiators Academy in Baton Rouge.  It was a great performance from both guys with Jon getting the decision 30-27 on all 3 cards.

We would like to thank all of our Port City MMA fans that made the trip over to support us.  We had more fans at the show than any other gym and you guys were really loud.  Its great to have such loyal fans!  You guys are the reason the guys get in the cage and put it on the line!

We had a great turnout and a great time at the Seminar with 3rd degree Black Belt and former World Champion Adriano Lucio.  Adriano is a BTT founding member & close personl friend of Ricardo Arona, as well as, the Nogueira brothers.  He showed some really technical guard passing & some finishes that were incredible.  Adriano is a long time friend of Port City MMA Owner Jimmy Mills and Adriano will be doing seminars & private lessons while he is in the USA.

Jimmy Mills was promoted to black belt this weekend by his coach Helio Soneca!  Soneca promoted Jimmy while they were training at X3 Sports in Atlanta.  Soneca will be the head BJJ instructor at the new X3 Sports in Atlanta.  Jimmy is the 3rd black belt from Alabama and the first from south of Birmingham to reach the rank of black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  It takes 10 years of hard training to reach the rank of black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
