Kids Grappling Program starting February 2 at Port City MMA!

Port City MMA will be starting a kids grappling program beginning on February 2, 2010. The program will be on Tuesdays & Thursday from 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm. It will be a combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, & judo and will also involve self defense training.

The program will be great for children building strength, confidence, & coordination in a structured environment while also gaining the discipline of martial arts training. Call today or come by to register your children.

Port City MMA undefeated again at Hardrock Challenge II!

Congrats to all of the fighters from Port City MMA who fought on Reality Combat's "The Hardrock Challenge II" event last Saturday night at the Hardrock Casino in Biloxi, MS. First up was Randy James who defeated a tough fighter from Gladiator's Academy in Slidell, LA by KO in round 1. The next fighter in the cage from Port City MMA was "The Road Dog" James Nevels who won a war against an undefeated fighter from Dixon's Dungeon in Biloxi, MS. Nevels scored a 2nd round TKO against a super tough opponent.

Josh Thorpe defeated the ultra tough JC Pennington by unanimous decision in what was voted fight of the night. Josh was able to use his wrestling and quick strikes to win all three rounds. In the semi finals of The Hardrock Challenge $10,000 welterweight tournament Colin "The Gift" McKee won by TKO against the always rough Randy Billiot from The Blacklist BJJ Academy in Louisiana. Colin now moves into the finals to take on Keith Johnson for the championship at the February show.

This will be the second round of a grueling 8 man tournament for the Hard Rock Biloxi Challenge belt.

Where: Port City MMA -- 1301 Azalea Rd -- Mobile, AL
When: October 31, 2009 from 3 pm - 6 pm

We will have boxing, kickboxing, & grappling matches. There will also be a costume contest and several prizes up for grabs. It will be a very fun event and money raised will help benefit Joseph Smith's hospital bills. Come out and support the event. Bring your friends and family. Don't forget to dress up!

If you are interested in competing be there from 11 am - 1 pm to weigh in. Matches will begin promptly at 3. Don't miss the chance to get some great competition experience.

Port City MMA made another great showing at the UEP event on 9/24/09 at The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL. First up was Tyler Land who dominated his opponent from Pensacola Boxing Academy and scored a first round victory by armbar. The next fighter from Port City MMA was James Rutherford who got fight of the night and won a decision over an undefeated fighter from Atmore. In the main event of the evening Jimmy Mills picked up another win with a first round rear naked choke victory over a tough opponent from Atlanta, GA. October 3 was another good Saturday night for the fighters from Port City MMA. Bobby O'Bannan had a successfull return to the ring picking up another KO win over a tough opponent from South Carolina to earn his 7th professional boxing win. Josh Thorpe won a decision over an IFL veteran at a show in Tallahassee, FL. It was a great night and there are many more victories to come.

Port City MMA would like to invite you to attned a fundraiser for the family of Francisco "Pancho" Montovias. Pancho passed away on July 25, 2009 the day after his pro boxing match in Bay St Louis, MS. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Montovias family.

We will be having a smoker event with boxing, kickboxing, & grappling matches. Weigh-ins for competitors will be from 1 PM - 3 PM. We will also have a fish fry with plates for sale and will be taking donations at the event.

Port City MMA 3-0 at Ultimate Chaos!

Mr Johnny, Colin, Josh, Orso, Jimmy & Nevels celebrating!

Port City MMA was undefeated at the Ultimate Chaos PPV in Biloxi! It was a great night for everyone at Port City MMA as the team went 3-0 on the night. Josh Thorpe was the first up on the undercard as he got a big takedown then defeated a tough fighter from MS by strikes in round 1.

James Orso was the first fight shown on the PPV as he squared off in a rematch with Danny Abbadi (from the Ultimate Fighter season 3). Orso used his boxing to close the distance and wound up on top in each round. He landed a lot of hard punches & elbows in route to a dominate unanimous decision victory.

Colin McKee was the fight before the main event as he knocked off a tough Lance Thompson from LA. Colin used the clinch to damage his opponent before stopping him with strikes in round 1.

It was a great night as the guys really represented the gym with skill and class. We will have many big shows coming up in the near future. Check back for more details and updates.
